Embracing Family Fun: Beach Photography in Courtice, Ontario
There's something truly magical about family photography at the beach and our recent session with the E Family was no exception. With the first bit of sun showing up nearly all summer, the sky painted a picture-perfect backdrop for our evening together. If we have worked together, you will know that I am a light snob. I am passionate about finding locations that offer beautiful natural light as well as scheduling a few hours before sunset to get that beautiful golden light that you want to highlight your family.
Seriously, good light is EVERYTHING and I am always looking for that light. We could actually sit in a pile of dirt and if we had a golden backlit sun, you would be happy with the results, I promise! What if the sky isn't as nice for your family session? Rest assured that I am able to find the nicest light in all situations and have professional gear that lets in as much light as possible. Cloudy days have their own beauty (which we will blog about another day).
Okay, back to our E Family! You probably wouldn't believe that this was their FIRST ever Family Portrait session with a professional because LOOK at them! This family arrived with outfits that were not only coordinated but suited the scenery of the beach so well. As we started the session, it was clear that fun and happiness were the themes of the evening. From skipping rocks along the water's edge to cuddling close for warm embraces, the love and connection between them was constant.
Laughter filled the air during playful tickle fights, and the children’s genuine joy was a delight to capture. Allowing kids to simply be themselves—free, curious, and full of energy—truly brought out the best in every shot. This is a goal of mine for every session I have - make your children feel comfortable and bring out their authentic personality by asking questions, playing games, and asking them to help out along the way. Everyone is included in the fun!
I think it is safe to say that the stunning sunset, the joyous interactions, and the genuine smiles all came together to create a collection of photos that will forever remind this family of their wonderful evening by the water.
